Designed parental controls and kid profiles to make HBO Max the most family-friendly streaming service.
We set out to make HBO Max the most family friendly streaming service. Key to this was giving parents tools to manage their kids' experience and giving kids a space that was built for them. I was the primary designer of kid profiles, app experience, and parental controls features to support these efforts.

Understanding diverse parenting philosophies and personal safety decision-making approaches. Every parent has a unique perspective on what's appropriate for their children.
Biggest Challenge
Preventing personal biases from influencing design while honoring user research findings. It was essential to design for all parenting styles, not just my own.
In Retrospect
The teen user experience needed more validation sessions to better understand content relevance and the unique needs of that age group.
Parental Controls Design
The parental controls system needed to be comprehensive yet approachable, allowing parents with different philosophies and technical comfort levels to set up appropriate viewing restrictions for their children.
